Packaging design is not "drawing a box" — it is a systems engineering exercise based on cargo characteristics, the transport route and environmental conditions. Working to GB/T 8166 and the ISTA series, our engineering team runs full load analysis and cushioning calculations for every shipment.
Weight, centre of gravity, fragility (G factor), surface protection and assembly/disassembly requirements
Transport mode, handling cycles, stacking layers, temperature, humidity and salt spray exposure
FEA verification of base beams, stacking compression strength and lifting points
Cushion thickness calculation, VCI corrosion inhibition and desiccant quantity determination
Deliverables: structural design drawings (CAD/PDF), load calculation report, bill of materials (BOM), and packing and securing work instructions.
"Replacing wood with paper" has become the mainstream direction for export packaging — no fumigation, lower tare weight, fully recyclable. But substituting a carton for a wooden case is not a simple material swap; the strength design has to be re-engineered and re-validated.
